NZJC to do Thompsons or Maratoto Waitangi 2017

Hi Guys,

An update from the Waitangi Weekend Runs.

The Meeting.

As we gathered at Bryans on the Saturday, we had a BBQ and an informal meeting.

Items discussed during the meeting were:

• Safety & Scrutineer’ing of the Jeeps
• Discussing & Organizing the coming years runs.
  Runs to be posted on Facebook and the Website
• Starting a closed/secret Facebook Group for members only.
  This Facebook group was setup/ members invited / pictures posted. 
  This has exploded in to life.

The Runs

We had 5 trucks:

• Bryan Williams
• Greg Sagar
• Paul Krisopp
• Chris Harvey
• Paul Waddell $ Dylan Waddell(Potential new member (TJ))

We managed to do both Thompson’s Track and the Wires Track.

Thompson’s Track was was an easy run up the mountain.
i believe they have had some machinery up there recently for repairs.
In at 10am and out at 12pm.

While we were having morning tea at the top of Thompson’s, we decided we would have a look at the Wires Track.
So, from the bottom of Thompson’s, we headed 40 minutes north.

The wires Track was a very good track, and it was even mentioned it was one of the best whelling days in a while.

I can only imagination the track would be quite torturous if it wasn’t so dry.
We all got thru it relatively easily. and by easily i mean, it took us 6 hours (2pm to 8pm), and we all had to use our winches half a dozen times.
But its kind of a track suited to Jeeps. I mean, i wouldn’t want to take a wide Safari thru there… 🙂

Hi Guys,

We’re having a club meeting on Saturday the 4th of Feb followed by either a Thompsons or Maratoto Run on the Sunday.

This is all going to be based from Bryan & Michelle’s

Waitangi weekend 3rd to 6th February camping  & some beds at our place.

Saturday – boating & canoeing at lake, picnic lunch ( if fine )
Club meeting Sat. afternoon, BBQ BYO DRINKS & FOOD FOR blokes barbie.
Wheeling at either Thompson’s Track or Maratoto (to be decided at the meeting).
Travel home Monday.
